Team Louigi

You are only as good as the people who work for you... luckily our team is first class across the board!

Rich 'Loui' Llewellin

Managing Director

Known as ‘Loui’ to most of his friends and since the mid 90’s as ‘Louigi’ as his love of Italian bikes flourished. Louigi Moto was the team name when competing at club level racing and is now a limited company that has been trading for over 10 years. You can read the history page to find out a bit more.

Training as a master mechanic at the Cadbury chocolate factory in Keynsham, Richard started RL Motor Services in 1986 which eventually evolved into Louigi Moto.

Richard has a colourful history in the custom car and hot rod scene having built and raced vehicles during the 1980’s and again built a reputation for helping to fix and tune cars for people in the scene. Indeed he is the topic of articles in many hot rod magazines of the time and was featured in a retrospective article in 2012.

Richard’s experience and passion is well recognised throughout the Ducati community both in the UK and abroad. He has built a company with an enviable reputation for fault diagnosis and from the earliest days of Louigi Moto, people have brought their problem machines to him.

What is apparent upon meeting Richard is his passion for engineering and his enthusiasm to help make your machine better.

Lee Marks

Senior Technician

Lee’s passion for two wheels began early, knowing from a young age that his dream was to work with motorcycles. After earning an NVQ Level 3 qualification in motor mechanics, he entered the motor trade, gaining experience working on all car brands – though his love for motorbikes never wavered.

Motorcycle racing started in 2020 when he bought a Suzuki Bandit, quickly teaching himself bike maintenance and fine-tuning, and earning podium finishes. Advancing to a Ducati 749, he won the 2024 Battle of the Twins championship, setting multiple lap records along the way.

Louigi Moto came calling in 2022 and Lee joined the team, adding his skill sets and abundant enthusiasm to the Louigi mix. Engine building is a passion for Lee, working alongside Rich in the workshop to build and develop Louigi engine recipes.

Lee holds a national road racing license and competes in club racing with the North Gloucestershire Road Racing Club. In addition to racing, he trains motorcyclists at Mercury Motorcycle Training, based at the Castle Combe circuit, where he applies his extensive expertise to help students enhance their riding skills and build confidence on the road.

Chris Steadman

CJS Racing

Chris has worked at and with Louigi Moto for many years. Having set up CJS Racing, Chris was looking for premises to run a motorcycle Dyno centre. At the same time Louigi Moto was moving to bigger premises and so the two have come together.

CJS Racing is an independent specialist engine workshop focusing on engine blueprinting, gas flowing and other performance elements such as crankshaft  balancing, reclaiming, cylinder head repairs, ECU reprogramming and Dyno tuning.

Chris provides a personal service, exercising meticulous attention to detail in blueprinting and rebuilding engines.

He understands that each project completed is the pride and joy of its owner and consequently lavishes painstaking care in all aspects of the service provided, including extensive preliminary discussion with the customer over specification requirements.

He currently has customers' engines and competition cylinder heads running in the British Superbike Championship, Sound of Thunder, New Era and many other championships.

Del Whitaker

DW Automotive Paintshop

Del runs DW Automotive and is a master of detail and custom paintwork. His work has been featured in many custom motorbike and hotrod magazines throughout the years, winning praise and awards.

Based on the same industrial estate, DW Automotive works closely with Louigi Moto to make sure our customer's bikes remain their pride and joy, whether we are repairing crash damage, performing a nut and bolt restoration or creating a new race bike colour scheme.

Quite simply, Del provides probably the best quality paint and repairs in the South West and we are proud to have him as a long-term Louigi partner.

Tom Grzelinski

Website, PR and Crash Tester

Tom runs design studio, Polka. Design and has been part of the Louigi Moto clan for 20 years. His team help us with press adverts, logos, clothing and our website. Tom's attention to detail is on the same level as ours, never settling for anything less than perfection.

He raced our Desmodue bike in the 2007 championship, with a high point of putting it on the front row at Assen, while wearing a novice bib! Unfortunately he also frequently visited the kitty litter, testing the robustness of our bike...

In recent years Tom has been an instructor at Castle Combe and continues to be a fast track day rider.

Abi Budd

Financial Controller

Abi runs bookkeeping company, Black Dog South West Ltd., and has managed the day-to-day finances of Louigi Moto for more than 20 years. She specialises in keeping the workers in line and making sure nobody is slacking!

Abi has also masterminded our Louigi ride-outs, bike gatherings and camp-out events, organising all the facilities and suppliers.
